Glass, Wood, and More Oh My!

As the end of the Fall, 2019 semester nears, the I-Create Lab wants to spotlight an Islander who has been utilizing the second favorite piece of equipment in the I-Create Lab, the Laser cutter/engraver.

Jason Sullivan is working towards obtaining his BA in Graphic Design through TAMU-CC’s Liberal Arts College. He came to the I-Create Lab to work on a piece for a class project. Jason came in with high ambitions and was eager to put the I-Create Lab to the test!

Jason created his logo digitally and had it engraved into glass and wood. Additionally, he used the laser cutter/engraver to create a stamp he would use to stamp the image onto other surfaces, hence why the logo appears backward on the wood.

The laser cutter/engraver can cut through different materials as well as engrave (for a list of usable materials, click here). Anyone can learn how to use the machine, with the help of a friendly staff member, to create unique projects for class or gifts for family and friends!

The I-Create Lab is an excellent place for students, faculty, and the community to get hands-on experience using several creative tools.

Learn more about the I-Create Lab on our website. The I-Create Lab is open weekdays 7:30 am-7:00 pm and our phone number is 361-825-2311.

I hope to see new creators soon!
