Homemade Chicken Wings

Hey everyone, I’m back with more to cook during quarantine! I hope everyone is doing well at home and staying safe. This week we’ll be attempting an easy dish of chicken wings and French fries. All you’ll need is one pound of chicken wings, a sack of potatoes, and a list of ingredients. You can bet that this recipe will taste similar to Wingstop and Buffalo Wild Wings. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

First, preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit (conventional ovens may vary). As the oven preheats, go ahead and bring out your freshly prepared chicken wings. Place them in a bowl large enough to fit the number of wings you want to cook. Go ahead and sprinkle salt and pepper over the wings until they’re seasoned to your taste. Make sure to drizzle some olive oil on them as well to prevent them from sticking to surfaces as they bake in the oven.

Next, using a rack from your oven (previously pulled out of course) cover it in aluminum foil. In case you don’t have an oven rack, you can use a cookie sheet or other similar flat pan. Once the surface area is covered with aluminum foil, drizzle olive oil on the surface and spread it on the entire sheet. Once covered, lay your wings on the pan and make sure to separate them to prevent them from getting stuck together.

After your oven reaches the desired heat of 450 degrees Fahrenheit, slide the oven rack with your delectable wings on it and let them bake for 30 minutes.

Now move on to your fries, cut your potatoes into long cubed rectangles. Sprinkle some salt and drizzle olive oil on the freshly cut batch of fries, then place them spread out on the oven rack, trying to keep them separate from each other. Once prepared, place them in the oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit and set a timer for 20 minutes (to maximize cooking time, you can place them in the oven along with the wings, about 10 minutes into the wings cooking).

Next, prepare a bowl of mixed seasonings for the French seasoned friesfries. Unlike most French fry recipes, these are actually going to be combined with pure sugar and brown sugar.

The full list of seasonings for you fries includes:

  1. 1 tsp salt
  2. 1 tsp pepper
  3. 1 tsp chili powder
  4. 1 tbs sugar
  5. 1 tbs brown sugar
  6. 1 tsp garlic powder
  7. 1 tsp paprika

Finally, once your wings and fries are ready, get your bowl of seasoning together and make sure you have your sweet Asian chili sauce - sweet Asian chili sauce can be found under the condiment aisle at Walmart. It should typically cost around $2.50 under the Great Value brand.

Immediately dump your fries into the seasoning mix and coat your chicken wings in sweet Asian chili sauce. Allow your wings to soak in the sauce, and the let the fries mesh with the seasonings - you’re free to take a bite of each. The sweet Asian chili sauce should have a similar taste to the Hawaiian wings at Wingstop and Buffalo Wild Wings and the fries should be similar to the seasoned fries featured at Wingstop.
