The Research and Instruction Department assists users in their research in person as well as by phone, email and chat.
We maintain a collection of online reference tools, such as Credo Reference and the Gale Virtual Reference Library, as well as an extensive collection of reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, indexes and the like in print.
We also provide an extensive information literacy program that seeks to educate library users in the use of library resources and to help them develop the critical thinking skills necessary to be informed consumers of information. We offer class-integrated instruction, workshops and online support materials such as course guides, database guides and tutorials.
The librarians in the Research and Instruction department, along with our colleagues in other departments, serve as liaisons to the disciplines on campus to provide research support to faculty and students, teach research skills classes and assist in collection development. Research and Instruction also manages the library's Texas and United States Government Documents collections.
We invite questions and comments and look forward to hearing from you. Contact Lisa Louis at firstname.lastname@example.org, 361-825-5905.
