This newspaper article discusses the Zoning and Planning Commission proposes using vacant lands for a farm-rural district. With this it stops the scattered, but the commission also believes that scattered development should be discouraged until the time comes for building of urban development. Vice chair of the commission, John Zerr, believed that with enough restrictions in place, the district should be able to prevent too much farming and still leave room for development.

This newspaper article is in links with a previous one where the was opposition for a Negro Housing Plan in the Council. Opposition of the plan comes from Maldonado and De Leon, due to beliefs that this would be beneficial in another area in Corpus. This unfortunately leaves Northside neighborhoods underdeveloped and behind in quality living quarters.

This newspaper article written by Lillian Leathers about the injustice with black teachers in the school district. Claiming that black teachers are given low paying jobs despite their teaching abilities, but also highlights the poor housing and the lack of funding going into their houses to make them adequate to live in particular, the Hillcrest area which is already being bombarded with highway construction. In this era, the Civil Rights Acts were close to being passed, and integration was already in progress, however instances such as this leaves the notion of de-facto segregation in effect. Educators are left behind in this instance, and are left in low-paying positions with no room to move up.

This newspaper article highlights from a report where in public education, there is a suggestion of adopting an anti-discrimination ordinance and public forums. With this it will bring about change and the efforts to find ways of recruiting black teachers to teach in white schools and the closing of black schools. At the time integration was already in effect, however there was still the notion of there not being a black teacher teaching white students.

This newspaper article discusses two potential proposals and developments. One is that of W.L. Bates for business zoning on Old Brownsville, Cliff Maus and Kosar Roads as well as Cecil Burney and Frank Cech’s request for lighting industrial zoning in Westgate heights and Rose Hill Cemetery. The second is C. R. Bowman from Dallas who wants to buy and begin constructing Negro housing units at Greenwood drives and Horne Road, however opposition came from Joe De Leon and M.P. Maldonado.

This article mentions the ongoing development of I-37 in Corpus Christi. The large image shows all the damage and construction that is occurring, but the article highlights the large amounts of money that is going into its development. In this instance, the development of I-37 is cutting into the Hillcrest neighborhood/area which is cutting off Hillcrest from the rest of Corpus Christi.

This article describes the school system in Corpus Christi, it does highlight the accomplishments of the district by noting that it is far advanced in terms of citizens getting along well with one another despite their races/ there is also a bit of disappointment in the districts failure to hire black teachers at schools that are not predominantly black schools. At this time integration was already in effect, and black students had the choice to attend either white school or black schools. This notion leaves behind black educators in low funded schools.

This is a letter from James de Anda to the Editor of the Corpus Christi Caller regarding Tony Bonilla and a quote in the paper. The paper wrote that Bonilla believed the members of the American G.I. Forums were under the impression that Anglos were enemies to them. The letter goes through what the organization stands for which provides support to veterans beyond the Veterans Administration and former veteran organizations. In sum, de Anda in this letter goes to the aid of G.I. Forum stating that the organization and its leader, Hector P. Garcia that the organization deserves recognition for the help and aid it provides former veterans of minorities. The G.I. Forum aids minority veterans with providing them benefits after their service, however it is always seen in a positive point of view in terms of racial prejudices.
