South Texas Stories - Home

South Texas Stories is an ongoing oral/aural history project and digital archive that seeks to preserve and share the rich history and heritage of Corpus Christi and the surrounding area.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi history students, faculty, and staff at the Bell Library Archives and Special Collections have all contributed to the South Texas Stories project. On this site, you will find oral history recordings and transcripts, student-curated exhibits, and student-created podcasts. The oral history interviews include topics such as  the environmental history of the Texas Coastal Bend, the Mexican-American civil rights movement, the history of the Corpus Christi music scene, and a variety of other topics.

Launched in 2016, the project aims to provide a deeper understanding of history among students and the local community. From 2016 to 2019, the project was co-directed by Drs. Claudia Rueda and Jen C. Brown. Dr. Brown has been the director since 2019.
